Since the time when Lord Elgin removed the Parthenon Marbles from Athens, there have been supporters and campaigns attempting to secure their return. With the major focus of the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, and with the commissioning of the New Acropolis Museum well under way, a new impetus has now emerged to persuade the British Government to make a commitment to return the Marbles to their rightful position alongside the Acropolis.
